New York, New York! It reminds us the lifestyle of profession's city life! Perhaps it would not be an exaggeration to say that New York is the one of the leading city for the new trend of culture, fashion, design and various cultural contents, it's taking 24hours 7 days to be produced various ideas, contents actively. It can be said that foundation of lifestyle hotel was born in New York, so New York is always leading the global value of culture. From luxury hotel to unique boutique hotels and lifestyle hotels, it is at the turning point of meaning of hotel itself. Ian Schrager was in the core of this revolution. And, he tried new ONE!

Ian was the co-owner of Studio54, formal Gallo Opera House, opened in 1927, it became a world-famous nightclub and discotheque. It was very well received from the public through trendy music, dramatic lighting. While his business was expanded more and more, he and his business partner Steve Rubell were keen on new business which is Hotel, they finally open Morgans Hotel in 1984 as their first boutique hotel. Since he has been successful in the first hotel business, he had a collaborated work with Philip Stark who is one of world famous designer for Royalton Hotel and Paramount Hotel, this solidified his place as founder of Boutique hotel. With his creative mind and future-oriented business thinking made him to seek for NEW things always. This was showed very well from one of his interview recently about the PUBLIC Hotel.

After he sold out his Chicago hotel in 2016, he opened Public Hotel in New York in June 2017. PUBLIC's fundamental premise is LUXURY FOR ALL. It is built on four key pillars: service, style, unique experience and value. However, it's not luxury as we traditionally know it, but luxury reflecting a new definition. Luxury is no longer about things or how much something costs. It is not a business classification, a price point or based on scarcity. Luxury is now about experiences and how something makes you feel. Luxury is being democratized and is now for everyone.

After you pass the oversized custom revolving glass door along the outdoor garden, infinity reflected copper-colored stainless steel with LED lights through the escalator bring the people inside the building with curiosity. Lobby area is wonderful place for socializing with people and it's easy to access to the hotel guestroom by self-check-in kiosk.

It's part grocery, part coffee shop, part luncheonette and part market all rolled into one. Louis continues the New York Food theme serving up gourmet, organic "slow food" in a fast, friendly, casual way That is reasonably priced. Contemporary design with warm and cozy materials such as American Black communal table to provide high-end space, sophisticated mood in the space.The food, beverage, meeting and entertainment spaces at PUBLIC have also been rethought to reflect the modern lifestyle, and once again Schrager is able to offer a myriad of unique adventures and experiences all under one roof, like a world class city and all of its unique offerings. The 'best of' 'New York' food, 'world food' really, is the idea behind Jean-Georges Vongerichten's PUBLIC Kitchen and LOUIS, both with healthy and organic eating at their core. The former is the hotel's main restaurant featuring a smoker, wood burning oven and wood burning grill as a focal point in the Public Kitchen. The food, reflecting all cultures that make up the eclectic mix and melting pot that is New York City, ranges from spicy Korean chicken to hot pastrami sandwiches, sushi and Dim Sum to the best hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza in the city. Adjacent to Public Kitchen is expansive outdoor terrace Bowery Garden to offer more healing and relax dinner time to the guest.

People may think that Schrager's first Boutique hotel was just one of specially designed hotel. Perhaps you may think it's nothing special much. However, he proved how important guest experience in the hotel and design through PUBLIC. Over the splendid visual design, he creates dramatic mood through lighting within simpler space. It offers relax and comfortable to the guest. He designs guest experience constantly by offering enjoyment, feeling and trial as always.

“I am always looking for a new and better way of doing things… to upset the status quo and shake things up.” _ claims Schrager

With PUBLIC, a soon-to be new object of desire, Schrager had undeniably created a new hotel for a new way of living that may very well be the new benchmark for the rest of the pack to follow.
