Please introduce the general points of the Shanghai EDITION Hotel.
The Shanghai EDITION represents a new kind of innovation and authenticity in luxury travel; a modern oasis of comfort at the heart of one of the world's most populous cities. Ian Schrager, the visionary behind the EDITION brand, creates not just a hotel but a seamlessly integrated experience, a small city within a city with an unprecedented blend of leisure and entertainment within one luxury hotel.

With The Shanghai EDITION, Schrager has married the best of the old world and the new, combining two very distinct yet complementary buildings that are full of history and culture - the art-deco former headquarters of Shanghai Power Company built in 1929 has been refurbished to house the public areas and amenities of the hotel: restaurants, bars, rooftops, spa and meeting and events areas; the other taller Power Building has been fused to a new skyscraper to create a multi-dimensional old-to-new space, it is now home to 145 rooms and suites, many with unrivalled views of the Bund, accompanied by an array of wining and dining spaces including a garden rooftop bar with 360 degree views of Shanghai.

The Shanghai EDITION distills the most central and desired services with precision, doing away with the obsolete, dated baggage of the prim, regulated hotel environment. This highly stylised hotel functions as a “home away from home”, catering to the modern-day traveler by providing comfort and ease with refinement: now a signature that defines the EDITION brand.

What is the status of the Shanghai EDITION Hotel in the Shanghai Hotel Market?
As the newly opened luxury hotel, The Shanghai EDITION presents a new generation of luxury. Since the hotel opened late last year the response from the public has been overwhelming. The guest slove the hotel design, employees and service style. The rate is positioned in the upper spectrum of the market however this has not deterred guests and the hotels performance is very impressive for its short time opened. The Shanghai EDITION is attracting the city's most stylish crowd and is the place to be seen. Our status in the social space is on an equally steep trajectory with the hotel already reaching the top 10 in Tripadvisor.

What is the overall hotel market trend in Shanghai?
Shanghai's GDP came in at around 3.27 trillion yuan in 2018, up 6.6 percent from a year earlier and has lowered its gross domestic product growth target for the next five years while increasing investment in research and key new industries to achieve stable, healthy and sustainable development.

Successes in depended reforms in the free trade zone, enhanced innovation, and the improved quality of economic development were considered among the most significant achievements during the period. In the next five years, Shanghai will increase its investment in research and development to more than 4 percent of its GDP as part of efforts to build itself into a center of technology and innovation. Upcoming projects such as Shanghai East Railway station(2021) and LEGOLAND theme park(2022), Shanghai is likely to attract more domestic business and leisure tourists.

What are the key features of the Shanghai EDITION Hotel that can attract customers?
The Shanghai EDITION embraces Schrager's vision of “simple sophistication” which translates into “understated luxury” showcased in its constant attention to details - in the design, service, food and quest for perfection.

Do you have any special marketing plans for the Korean market and Korean customers?
As you are aware, I lived in Seoul for the last 5 years and have a deep understanding and love for the Korean guest and Korea in general. I have been spending time with my team to help them understand this market and what the true luxury guest of Korea requires from a hotel. As I was General Manager at “Dongriott” JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square for a long time I am fully aware of what these guests want. Our food and beverage offerings there were recognized as the market leader and I bring this knowledge with me.

Is there any partnership or joint promotion for the Shanghai EDITION Hotel with other companies or agencies?
Food and Beverage is crucial for EDITION brand. EDITION food and beverage is discovered artisans a new kind of gathering place enchanting sophistication - day to night. Like the best musicians, the best chefs and mixlolgists are discovered. While culinary credentials are a given, EDITION seeks out the most talented individuals who share our core value. Then, we leave them to create new kinds of gathering places, for all day dining and entertaining. To highlight the brand effort on F&B, our three key venues are collaborating with Michelin Starred Chef Jason Atherton and Hong Kong based Black Sheep Restaurant.

Shanghai Tavern - Michelin-star chef Jason Atherton lends his culinary expertise to Shanghai Tavern. The restaurant offers all-day dining with a menu of seasonal, contemporary European brasserie. The interior references layers of history behind the Shanghai Power Company Building and features a communal space designed with pockets of intimacy.
